Dialogue on the Reform of the Multilateral SystemIntroductionMultilateral organizations themselves, NGOs and many governments agree that reform of the multilateral global governance system is necessary. Since 2003 Bridge Initiative has been proactive in trying to confirm the nature of the agreement, and in getting involved in this strategic discussion between international institutions, governments, and civil society (including both radical and moderate voices from civil society), through informal meetings and public events. The objective of this process can be seen as an effort to define how to make multilateral organizations move from inter-governmental organizations to truly international organizations, i.e. with the participation of all stakeholders of society and people. It aims to delineate an open and participatory process to construct to another global governance architecture. |
